Clixswap.com was created as a way to help web publishers increase their exposure and market their
products and services online.
2000
Originally released in October of 2000, clixswap.com was developed using modified banner exchange
code and was written in cgi/perl. With an inadequate flat file system the program, quickly became
un-manageable and required upgrading almost from the very start.
2001
Upgraded to version 2. To make the necessary upgrades from the flat file system and move all data
into an online database filing system, migration of the program to a new server was required. A team
of developers was brought together for this migration and upgrade developments. Version 2 also
allowed the program to offer fee based advertising options.
2002
Version 3 rolls out in the late summer of 2002 with new features such as Gold and Premium club fee
based options as well as the VIP program which allowed members to receive higher exchange ratios
during selected surf sessions. Migration of this release to a new dedicated server was also
implemented.
2003
Clixswap.com moves it's operation headquarters from Big Lake MN. to Davenport FL.
2004
Version 4 was never released into production.
2005
Version 5 is released when server requirements made it necessary for the program to be migrated
onto a new server. This version was released as a secondary upgrade and included bug fixes from
earlier releases.
2007
In September 2007 it is determined that clixswap.com should undergo a new upgrade. We gave alot of
thought to how the new version should look and what new features we would like to add to the program.
Development soon begins in October of 2007 and continues all through 2008.
2009
In 2009, version 6 is being released. In this release we are taking a bold new approach to how page
exchanges will operate on the internet. This release will allow members to choose which pages they
wish to view. Members will also be able to offer bonus clix to viewers for viewing their pages.
Viewers will now have the ability to rate each site as well as leave comments about each site for
others to view.
With this version of the program we intend to help businesses of all sizes grow.
